Movement Disorder & Neuromodulation Center

The Pediatric Movement Disorder and Neuromodulation Center provides comprehensive state-of-the-art care for children with movement disorders, such as dystonia, essential tremor, spasticity and chorea. Our UCSF medical staff includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists and radiologists, as well as nurses with advanced training in these disorders.

We offer a variety of services, ranging from complete neurological evaluations and disease management to medication therapy, botulinum toxin (Botox) injections and neurosurgical treatments. To provide deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy for certain conditions, our surgeons perform procedures to implant and program the devices. When children have this advanced form of brain surgery, the patient is anesthetized for the entire procedure and surgeons use an MRI-guided technique that was developed at UCSF.
