Mara Bailey-Olson

PNP MSN

Pediatric nurse practitioner

Mara Bailey-Olson is a pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in care for children who are undergoing a stem cell transplant or have undergone the procedure successfully. Her focus is on managing survivors of cancer treatment and stem cell transplants, including monitoring for long-term side effects of the transplant or chemotherapy.

Bailey-Olson earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology and psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder, followed by a master's degree in nursing through the UCSF Master's Entry Program in Nursing. She has worked at UCSF for more than a decade and was one of the first two pediatric nurse practitioners hired to work in the UCSF Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Program.

Most of Bailey-Olson's free time is spent with her three children, but she also enjoys wine and cooking, photography and anything outdoors, including hiking, skiing and exploring her home base of Marin County. In addition, she likes to travel and has volunteered internationally, participating in health outreach projects in Brazil, Cambodia and Tanzania. She hopes to take part in more such projects in the future.
