Nicola Cadenas is a genetic counselor working with families who have hereditary cancers or who may be at risk for them. She has a special interest in hereditary endocrine cancer syndromes.

In addition to counseling patients at UCSF, Cadenas teaches cancer genetics to genetic counseling students at California State University, Stanislaus.

Cadenas earned her master's degree in genetic counseling from the University of California, Berkeley.

    Fetal surgery firsts

    The first open fetal surgery in the world was performed at UCSF in the early 1980s.
