Tara Valcarcel is a pediatric nurse practitioner who cares for children, adolescents and young adults with rheumatic diseases, such as juvenile arthritis and lupus. She oversees pediatric rheumatology patients receiving intravenous infusions.

After earning a bachelor's degree in art history from Williams College, Valcarcel earned her master's degree in nursing from UCSF School of Nursing, with an advanced practice pediatric nursing specialty and a minor in adolescent health. She is certified through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board, and she is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. In 2014, she received the Excellence in Advanced Practice Nursing–Outpatient Award.
